A contemporary take on the centuries-old reticello technique, this heavy piece features concentric layers of fine glass threads, creating a three dimensional mandala with striking optical qualities. The composition draws the eye to a small air bubble suspended within the center of the piece.
After the hot-working process, the piece is precision-ground to a biconvex lens that magnifies the pattern trapped within the glass, as well as the environment behind the piece. A matte black, steel armature supports the piece.
